Evil Tales, collage series, artbook, 82 s. 15x21 cm
The collages were created over the span of several years and form a dreamlike, personal narrative. I use original black-and-white photographs, fragments of magazines, and reproductions of artworks, combining them to give the images new meanings. An atmosphere of nightmares and delusions emerges within these compositions. The title of the series refers to the concise, almost literary form of the works, reminiscent of short allegorical tales in which characters personify human desires and emotions.
I draw on the world of childhood stories — their simplicity and intuitive logic. I adopt the perspective of a child who, in spontaneous play, arranges fragments of images into a new, personal story.
Evil Tales are a visual record of the anxieties and fears arising from blurred memories and stories heard or experienced in childhood.
