Biesy, neon series
Wandering lights hovering over fields and wetlands have, for centuries, evoked associations with the supernatural. Their appearance was believed to signal the presence of the spirits of the dead. Contemporary science explains the phenomenon as the spontaneous ignition of gases, such as phosphine and methane, produced during the decomposition of organic matter.
These fireflies, never captured on camera, became a starting point for reflecting on the need to sacralize natural spaces,
deeply rooted in local spirituality, while simultaneously evoking landscapes of non-places of memory that coexist with a world of technological development.
The Biesy series is an artistic installation consisting of hand-crafted neon works. Gas enclosed within organic glass forms emits a vivid, pulsating light. An accompanying audio installation is based on the sounds of high-voltage electrical waves.
