Curtain, bead embroidery 240x160 cm, series of photographs, video documentation

2016-2022

I worked on “Curtain” for 6 years from 2016, systematically sewing black beads into the fabric until they covered its entire surface, turning it into an impermeable, dense and heavy matter. The process was set in the places where I lived in Warsaw. In the process of embroidering, the object itself, my surroundings and myself changed. It became a spiritual practice for me, which gave me a sense of inner peace. The irregular structure of the work is the result of a special creative process, submerged in the rhythm of everyday life. Although embroidery is a repetitive activity, the gestures are never identical, making the structure a naturally chaotic tissue.
